AIB
Building & Construction Alliances
The Australian Institute
of Building (AIB) enjoys a unique role in within industry, government
and other stakeholders given its established role in representing
the management of Australia's building and construction industry.
This work is coordinated by the AIB-IGL
Industry & Government Liaison Committee at a national
level.
In order to further the
interests of the building profession, AIB has a number of established
links with organisations that are able to support the Institute's
membership or have an influence on the building profession. These
organisations include:
These alliances provide
the building profession to make a contribution to the technical,
commercial and regulatory environment in which the building profession
operates and this work is coordinated through a number of AIB national
committees.
Through its relationship
with the Australian
Building Codes Board (ABCB)
and Standards
Australia (SAA),
AIB is also a participant in the development of Australian
Standards and other documents that support the Building
Code of Australia (BCA).
Until April 2008, an
alliance agreement was in place with the UK
Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
however this agreement came to an end with the downgrading of CIOB-UK's
relationship with stakeholders in the Australian building profession.
In order to ensure that
its membership benefits from the expertise gained overseas, AIB
has built relationships with counterpart organisations internationally
. These relationships are underpinned by the fact that one-third
of the AIB membership resides outside Australia.
For further information
on AIB's external relationships contact the Chief Executive Officer,
Troy
Williams, in AIB's national office.
