Sustainable Built Environment Council
The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) is a member of the
Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC). This
strategically important link provides building and constructions
professionals with a voice in a key forum that is responsible for
coordinating a whole-of-industry policy approach to environmentally
sustainable development. For more information on AIB's commitment
to green building visit:
ASBEC is a peak body of key organisations committed to a sustainable
built environment in Australia. ASBEC was incorporated in
mid-2004 and has grown quickly, with AIB becoming the organisation’s
thirtieth member. Most ASBEC members are industry, and professional
associations with members who are involved in the planning, design,
delivery and operation of the built environment, and those concerned
with the impact of the built environment upon society.
ASBEC members are committing their time and energy to developing
a national strategy for a more sustainable built environment.
ASBEC meets two to three times a year to review progress on policy
and strategy. Between meetings working groups and committees are
used to develop specific projects.
