Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB)
The New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) is an Incorporated
body whose members are drawn from the wider construction industry.
It was established in 1984 on the initiative of members of
the former New Zealand Chapter of the Australian Institute of Building
(AIB).
Since its separation in 1984, AIB and NZIOB enjoy close links best
reflected in a formal alliance ratified in 2005.
NZIOB is the professional institute in New Zealand for persons engaged
in building practice in a managerial, technical, or administrative
capacity in construction, installation, designs or survey, and for
those engaged in the teaching, science and practice of building
and building research.
Current members include architects, engineers, building managers,
construction managers, project managers, builders, quantity surveyors
lecturers, students and other building related professionals.
The organisation consists of a National Council and three Chapter
Boards; Northern, Central and Southern, these boards are based in
Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch respectively, with a branch
also located in Dunedin.
The National Council has two advisory committies, these being Executive
and Policy. In addition there are five other national standing
committies which have their counterparts at Chapter level, they
are; Practice, Finance, Education, Membership and Grading, Services
and Activities and Documentation.
