AIB-CAC Courses Assessment Committee
Since 1975 the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has provided accreditation to selected university qualifications in building management related disciplines. This accreditation has origins in the leading role that AIB played in the creation of the first, and subsequent, university courses specialising in building and construction management. This work is managed through the AIB-CAC Courses Assessment Committee which has responsibilities that include:
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures for
the assessment of courses and accreditation of degrees;
- Managing the Institute’s course assessment system;
- Approving or endorsing the accreditation of academic
qualifications in accordance with current policy;
- Cooperating with kindred associations in any approved
joint course assessment system; and
- Recommending a nominee each year for the Teaching
Excellence Award.
AIB accreditation serves several purposes which can be concisely stated as verifying the relevancy of the course’s content, the quality of instruction and also to provide a direct pathway as a professional to membership of AIB.
The current committee Chair is Mr Patrick Toomey FAIB, a Hobart-based construction lawyer and an AIB National Vice President.
AIB members seeking further on the AIB-EDU committee's work are invited to contact the AIB national office via e-mail at education@aib.org.au
