AIB-EAA External Appointments
& Awards Committee

The AIB-EAA External Appointments & Awards Committee committee is tasked with providing recommendations to the Board for external appointments. A considered approach allows for an independent assessment of whether a person is worthy for recognition and also allows factors that may not be know to Chapters or individual Councillors to be taken into account. The AIB-EAA Committee is tasked with:

  • Securing appointments of prominent building professionals to advisory positions within Australian universities;
  • Recommending to the Board that an individual be nominated by AIB as a worthy recipient of an honour under the Australian Honours system;
  • Other appointments as referred to it by the Board.

In undertaking these tasks the committee considers the strategic importance of the appointment and honour to the Institute and / or the broader building profession. It also reviews the needs of the organisation making the appointment, considering the skills or attributes the person that allows the nominee to make a meaningful contribution.

The current committee Chair is Mr Tom Morris FAIB, AIB Immediate Past National President. Membership of this comittee is by membership only and at the discretion of the Board.

AIB members seeking further on the AIB-MSC committee's work are invited to contact the AIB Chief Executive Officer via e-mail at ceo@aib.org.au
