AIB-EDU Education Committee
Since its formation in 1951 the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has played a leading role in the development of qualifications in building and construction management related disciplines. The AIB-EDU Education Committee coordinates this activity at a national level, with a specific emphasis on promoting the AIB recongised qualifications as a pathway to membership. Similarly, as the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector has matured as a result of government reform, AIB has played a positive role in ensuring that VET sector qualifications meet the need of the building profession. Responsibilities of AIB-EDU include the following:
- Raising the profile of students, graduates and staff of programs leading
to AIB accredited and endorsed awards;
- Encouraging a greater demand for AIB accredited and endorsed
awards;
- Ensuring a high level of articulation into university programs from the
Vocational Education and Training (VET) / TAFE sector;
- Developing policies for the administration and delivery of CPD programs
suitable for the building profession;
- Monitoring the work of AIB's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) .
With the formation of the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSIC) the task of monitoring the development of VET Sector qualifications has become somewhat easier. AIB is represented on CPSIC's Construction Industry Advisory Committee.

AIB is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) allowing it to award nationally recognised qualifications in certain construction disciplines. |
The current committee Chair is Mr Bob Whittaker FAIB, a senior TAFE lecturer in building disciplines and an AIB National Vice President. The committee's secretariat is provided by the AIB national office.
AIB members seeking further on the AIB-EDU committee's work or who would like to participate in the committee are invited to contact the AIB national office via e-mail at education@aib.org.au
