Introduction

The NBPR provides a benchmark for judging the suitability of persons:

  • for prequalifications in the selection of building service providers
  • for licensing and accreditation, and
  • for the provision of particular services to the general public.

Individual's with a minimum of three years current experience in the Building Industry are registered at one of three levels and in one or more categories as follows:

  • Level 1 (Building Professional): for persons with professional level academic qualifications.
  • Level 2 (Building Associate Professional): for persons with paraprofessional level academic qualifications.
  • Level 3 (Building Technician): for persons with technician level academic qualifications.

Registration is made within these categories:

  • Adjudication (for NSW only)
  • Building Construction (Unrestricted or Restricted)
  • Building Consultancy
  • Building Control
  • Building Economics
  • Building Industry Services
  • Building Project Management
  • Education & Training
  • Property Management
  • Research & Development

Persons without appropriate academic qualifications may apply for registration by recognition of prior learning based on competency standards.

Registration

NBPR registrants will have met stringent academic and experience criteria and, taken as a group, they can be expected to have more advanced knowledge and skills than those who have not met the registration standards.

Registration is on an annual basis with re-registration subject to assessment of experience and CPD activities during the previous 12 months.

AIB members are not charged an admission fee or an initial registration fee if registered at the level equivalent to their AIB membership grade.
