AIB Professional Excellence In Building AwardsSince its formation in 1951 the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has encouraged the use of best-practice building techniques. To this end the AIB Professional Excellence In Building Awards are awarded to individuals and reflect the highest standards of building. They are the only Australian awards that recognises the excellence in the building and construction process and the contribution of individuals, as opposed to the project and structures.
In past years award recipients included the building and associated professionals who had successfully overcome challenges to ensure the timely completion of projects on budget, introducing practical application of industry influenced research and protecting the integrity of original structures and facades. Building professionals have been rewarded for their work on a number of projects ranging from international sporting arenas to complex residential developments and state of the art medical facilities. Many within our community see the building industry simply as tradesmen, who collectively work to erect a structure, through the AIB Professional Excellence In Building Awards there is the opportunity to reinforce the role of the building profession in managing the construction process. The awards provide the forum to acknowledge the individuals and management teams that accomplish their mission with an extraordinary level of expertise. A related awards initiative is the AIB Arup Young Achiever of the Year Award to recognised the accomplishments of a young building professional.
