Participating in Standards development

Participation in the development of Australian Standards is a great opportunity for members of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) to influence the technical environment in which the building profession operates. The contribution of AIB members is valued by the broader industry and enables members to enhance their understanding of the codes and standards infrastructure.

AIB is represented on a number of Standards Australia committees and it is the Institute's members who serve on these committees. For information on the committees that AIB is represented on and the roles of committee members review the following documentation:

Standards committee participation
AIB Committee representation
SG-003: Committee members roles and responsibilities

On a periodic basis AIB members have the opportunity to nominate to a vacancy on a Standards Australia committee and for information on which committees that vacancies are available for, review the following

Committee nomination form

Members wishing to nominate for a committee need to posses a willingness to broadly consult with other AIB members, keep the Institute informed of the work of the Standards Committee and also possess a reasonable level of technical expertise.

Questions relating to Standards Australia nominations can be sent to the AIB national office at building.codes@aib.org.au
