AIB Research & Education Foundation
Supporting the development of the building profession
The Building Research & Education Foundation was established in 1968 by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB). The purpose of the Foundation is to promote and encourage research in the science
and practice of building and to facilitate the exchange of related information. The importance of the this work is reflected in a statement made nearly forty years ago:
The reason Australia has become a great nation is because there has been a progressive and ever-developing construction industry to fulfil the nation's need for physical facilities. Within that industry their has emerged a Building Profession which has endeavored at all times to retain its flexibility through knowledge and understanding gained by education and research.
Sir Albert V Jennings
AIB President - May 1966
Funding is available to individuals and organisations. In addition, the Foundation supports national awards associated with university study in building and construction management related disciplines.
The Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees that have all served a term as AIB National President. Funds held by the Foundation are retained in a Trust with grant monies being derived from the return on investments supplemented by additional donations and bequests from individuals and organisations.
