The Australian Institute of Building (AIB)
— Incorporated By Royal Charter

The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) was established in 1951 as the professional body representing the managers of building and construction firms. AIB promotes excellence in construction and recognition for professional builders, and plays a lead role in supporting the career development of individual building professionals.

AIB & Building Profession News -

The Institute works with more than a dozen universities throughout Australia to ensure that undergraduate and post-graduate training is relevant to the next generation of managers. Additional professional recognition stems from AIB's support for the National Building Professionals Register (NBPR) and the Institute's membership structure.

AIB's membership includes the management of the Asia-pacific's most prestigious building firms, allied professionals in addition to leading academics in this field. Significantly, more than 25% of AIB's membership is Hong Kong and mainland China.

AIB publishes the Construct magazine and is a partner in the publication of the Australian Journal of Construction Economics and Building, a leading peer-reviewed journal on the profession of building and construction. AIB also organises Construct 2008.

With a proud record of achievement in the area of legislative and building code reform, AIB works with its members to develop an informed position on changes to the regulatory, technical and commercial environment in which the building profession operates.
