AIB Membership grade transfer

Existing members of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) can apply to upgrade their membership grade to reflect further qualifications and / or experience acquired since first joining the Institute.

An upgrade is not automatic as each application is subject to an independent review to ensure that the applicant meets the required criteria for admission to the grade. To download a grade transfer application form select the following link:

Please note that all applications for admission at the grade of Member or Fellow will be required to provide a professional reference. Once the grade transfer application has been reviewed the member will be advised of the outcome and the steps necessary to complete the process.

An upward revision of a grade reflects a member's growing expertise within the building profession as assessed by their peers. It may entitle the member to the use of post-nominals, for example Joe Citizen FAIB, providing further demonstrable evidence of their competence and industry standing.
