Professional Accreditation

The Australian Institute of Building has adopted a policy for the licensing and registration of builders and the use of competency standards to test for technical and professional competence.

The Building industry must ensure that the service it provides to clients is efficient and reliable. This leads to the requirement for a national database of Building practitioners who conform to stringent criteria for qualifications and experience and who maintain high standards of professional conduct by adhering to Codes of Ethics and Practice and commit themselves to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

To provide that database The Australian Institute of Building has established the National Building Professionals Register (NBPR) which is open to members of the AIB and non-members. Registered individuals benefit by the NBPR being available to both public and private sector organisations resulting in the recognition of their status as qualified, experienced and committed practitioners.
