Higher Education Round Table
The Australian Building & Construction Higher Education Round
Table was established by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB)
following representations from senior academic staff at a head of
school and head of program level who indicated a need to liaise
directly with the building profession and amongst their colleagues
within the university sector. It is the peak body for academics
associated with building and construction courses to liaise directly
with industry.
The Round Table provides
an opportunity for the senior staff responsible for the strategic
direction of courses in building and construction disciplines to
liaise with the building profession. Importantly, it provides an
opportunity for the building profession, through AIB, to understand
the challenges that universities are facing so that we can be a
more effective advocate on behalf of university staff and the Schools
in which they reside. Membership of the Round Table as
at is as follows:

Each member university
is represented by the university's head of school and head of program
and AIB is represented by the National President and Chief Executive
Officer. Observers are those academic institutions offering higher
education qualifications in building and construction disciplines
which are not accredited by AIB. The secretariat of the Round Table
is managed by the AIB Education Manager who is located in Canberra.
The Round Table meets
at least once per year although acts as an effective forum for the
sharing of information between universities and industry.
