AIB - Western Australian Chapter
Building professionals in Western Australia work on a diverse range of construction projects given the dynamics of growing population, large-scale investment in infrastructure by Government and and the benefits derived from the resources boom.
The AIB Western Australian Chapter is the contact point for building
professionals and students of building management (and related disciplines)
working in Western Australia. The Chapter provides a range
of local services and information for building practitioners and
students undertaking building and construction management courses
in Western Australia.
Through established links with the State Government the AIB Western Australian Chapter enjoys a position of influence when negotiating changes to legislation affecting the work of the state's building professionals.
AIB and MBA reestablish relationship in Western Australia
On the 30th of September, myself and AIB Western Australian Chapter Representative Mr John Doust FAIB attended a meeting with Mr Michael McLean, Director of MBA-WA and George Allingame MBA – WA President and Director of Pindan Constructions.
The informal meeting was arranged by AIB to re-establish the AIB Western Australia Chapter’s relationship with the WA – MBA which had been fairly low key in recent years.
While both parties recognised many synergies in the way we both represent the Building Industry, the AIB representing the individual Building Professionals and the MBA representing the needs of the Building companies, both parties saw the need to raise the profile of the Building Industry and the need to encourage young people to commence a rewarding and challenging career in the Building Industry. There are many opportunities available to us to co-ordinate Site Visits, CPD Events and the be able to welcome new Members. A regular catch up meeting is planned between myself, John, Michael and George.
Once a report back to our respective committees has been done we will meet again to map out the way forward for the future.
